Pune trust to spend Rs 1K cr for 4 engineering colleges

BANGALORE: A Pune-based trust plans to start engineering colleges in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi and Indore, investing Rs 250 crore in each.

Maharashtra Academy of Engineering and Educational Research (MAEER) expects the engineering institute in Bangalore, where it is acquiring land, to be completed first by 2009-10, said Sunil Karad, executive director of MAEER’s MIT Group of Institutes.

The trust is also expanding its design institute in Pune and plans to include courses in product and communication design. Furthermore, it will tie up with universities in Singapore, the UK, Italy and Australia for student exchange programmes.
