Considering the speed with which the mobile market is rapidly increasing as compared to the internet market, AOL has already taken a step ahead with special bonanza for its Indian users.
Indian AOL users will now be able to interact with a mobile phone using their Desktops. This would mean that the users can send SMS and instant messages free to mobile phones from AOL Messenger services or AOL Mail. The mobile phone recipient will also be able to respond instantly. AOL Mobile already has a variety of applications for SMS, GPRS/EDGE and other mobile clients, operating system like Symbia, Java, RIM, Linux and Windows Mobile.

AOL already has a good base in India, with most of the mobile carriers supporting their services including some major ones namely Vodafone, Aircel, Aitel and MTNL.

AOL messenger is one or the most popular IM (Instant Messenger) with a world-wide user base of 67 million. AOL was also the first portal to start an IM services named AIM.
